1. Introduction
StandaloneTech (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website https://standalonetech.com and publishes WordPress plugins, including the free TeraWallet plugin distributed on WordPress.org and the paid TeraWallet Pro plugin sold on this website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, purchase our products, or use our plugins.
If you joined our plugin mailing list from inside the free TeraWallet plugin, Section 3 explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to unsubscribe.
By using our website, you agree to the data practices described in this policy. Marketing and product emails are a separate matter: we send them only to people who have given us explicit, opt-in consent. Using our website or installing our plugins is not by itself consent to receive them. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of our website.
2. Information We Collect
Personal Information
When you make a purchase, create an account, or contact us, we may collect:
- Full name
- Email address
- Billing address
- Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider — we never see or store full card details)
- WordPress site URL (for license activation, and for plugin mailing list subscribers — see Section 3)
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring website
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies
For a full breakdown of the cookies we set and how to control them, please see our Cookie Policy.
3. TeraWallet Plugin — Optional Email Opt-In
The free TeraWallet plugin (available from WordPress.org) shows site administrators a one-time notice inviting them to join the StandaloneTech plugin mailing list. This is completely optional. The checkbox is not ticked by default, the plugin works in exactly the same way whether you accept or decline, and no data is sent to us unless you actively opt in and confirm.
What we collect if you opt in
- Your email address — the address shown in the opt-in form, which you can change before submitting.
- Your WordPress site URL — the address of the site the plugin is installed on.
That is all. The plugin does not send us your customers’ personal data, order data, wallet balances, transaction history, database contents, admin passwords, or any other information from your store — not when you opt in, and not at any other time.
Why we collect it
- To tell you about TeraWallet releases, new features, and important security or compatibility notices.
- To send occasional tips, tutorials, and documentation for getting more out of the plugin.
- To send occasional marketing emails about TeraWallet Pro and other StandaloneTech products.
The site URL is used only to identify which installation a subscriber belongs to, to avoid sending duplicate emails to administrators who run TeraWallet on several sites, and to help us give you better support if you contact us.
Legal basis for processing
We process this data on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation). Consent is given by the affirmative act of ticking the opt-in box and submitting the form. You can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Where the data is stored and who can see it
Subscriber records are stored on our own servers at standalonetech.com and are accessible only to StandaloneTech staff who need them. Outgoing emails are delivered through an email delivery provider acting as a processor on our behalf, under a data processing agreement. We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share this mailing list with anyone else.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address and site URL for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove you from the mailing list immediately and delete your subscriber record within 30 days. If you delete or uninstall the plugin without unsubscribing, your subscription remains active until you unsubscribe — uninstalling the plugin does not remove you from the list.
How to unsubscribe
- Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email we send you — this takes effect immediately and requires no account or login; or
- Email us at support@standalonetech.com asking to be removed, and we will action it within 30 days.
Unsubscribing is free, and it has no effect whatsoever on your ability to use the free TeraWallet plugin, on any TeraWallet Pro license you hold, or on the support you receive from us.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process transactions and deliver purchased products
- Manage your account and provide customer support
- Send service and transactional emails (order confirmations, license keys, renewal and expiry notices, security notices)
- Send product news, tips, and occasional marketing emails — only to people who have opted in (see Section 3)
- Improve our website, products, and services
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
We will never sell your personal information to third parties, and we will never add you to a marketing list without your explicit opt-in.
5. Data Sharing
We may share your information only with:
- Payment processors — to securely handle transactions
- Email delivery providers — to deliver transactional emails and, for subscribers, mailing list emails on our behalf
- Analytics providers — to understand website usage (anonymized where possible)
- Legal authorities — when required by law or to protect our rights
These providers act as processors on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including SSL encryption, secure payment processing, and restricted access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy:
- Account and order data — for as long as you hold an account with us, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep transaction records.
- License and site activation data — for the life of the license, plus a short period afterwards to handle renewals and support requests.
- Plugin mailing list data — until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it (see Section 3).
- Website analytics data — according to the standard retention settings of our analytics provider.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time — including unsubscribing from our mailing list, which you can do from the link in any email we send you
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@standalonetech.com. We aim to respond to every request within 30 days, and we do not charge a fee.
9. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our website and products are not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page and the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. If we make a material change to how we use your personal data, we will give existing mailing list subscribers notice by email before the change takes effect. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
